If you have to get food from a food pantry DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT What  you get learn to think like a cook to make it better. Seriously  learn how to make basic soups, spice combos learn cooking basics and you open a new world when you have to go to a food pantry  to feed yourself and the family. I'm sorry  it upsets me to see people  turn they're  head up at great quality  food/ingredients  the could make some  really yummy meal/dishe.s because they A. Don't know what  it is or B. It has a bruise........
I found lox the other day ! !!!!!! Lox and  it was Excellent  and why no one took it  except  me blows my mind. It lightly smoked salmon  full if calories  vitamino minerals  that are amazing  for your  body if your arthritic.  So really next time your food pantrying  grab a random  item and learn to cook with it  there's tons of recipes  online. I have not found an ingredient  I can't  makes something  with even if it is a side thing like I don't  know bread I make if into croutons  and eat them on salads or like a snack. My point is try new stuff.

I have an obnoxious  amount of lettuce, and herbs, and few vegetables.  Must be spring.
I have few recipes to post today. Sadly if I don't use alot of this stuff today or at least cook it into something  it will go bad.

So for veggies  I like making soup or stock depending on what I have. Today basic celery, onion, carrots, tomato

So I'm just gonna make a garden veggie  soup.

2 tbs Butter
2 carrots
2 stalks  of celery
Half tomato
Finely chopped onion
4 cubes chicken boullion
4 cups water

In a pan melt butter  add onion, place on medium low heat, mea while slice carrots, celery
And dice tomatoes, (take seeds out too)
Once onion is Transparent  or soft  add 4 cups water, bring to a boil then turn down to medium high heat add tomatoes let cook for 10 minutes. Then add chicken boullion stir till Boullion is de solved. Bring to a boil. Add tomatoes celery  cook for 10 minutes then add carrots and serve immediately
Basic healthy cesar

Romaine lettuce
1 lemon
Panko bread
Black pepper
Garlic salt
(Non creamy) cesar/ house dressing
Optional  parmasean  cheese shredded
For this recipe I use Panko bread because I'm pretty sure it's a rice and not gluten  based. However don't quote me on that different brands use different  ingredients. The brand I get from the pantry is rice based. So I use in recipes that require bread crumbs for my family members who are gluten intolerant

Put lettuce in a bowl, squeeze half lemon over lettuce, toss . Add black pepper (better if freshly ground) dash of garlic salt, add dressing  toss and any extra vegetables or cheeses you wish to (with cheese make sure it's a white cheese like asiago, feta, parmasean) serve immediately

It's been a while since I've blogged, been busy.

But I've got melty  cheese (generic Velveeta cheese)
Elbow macaroni
Hamburger
Tabasco
Milk

So Im thinking hamburger  helper type dish,
if you do not have a noodle strainer you prep the noodles in  deep frying pan.
Look on the back of the elbow  mac check dry serving size. Measure out according to serving ie  1 dry serving per person. For the type I have it 2/3 cup dry  is one serving  (so my husband, son and my self. So three servings. ) I'm going to put that in the fry pan.
adding water I'm going to put in 2/3 water for every serving plus 2 extra 2/3s.
Boil the water, cover And turn the heat to low.
for about 10-20 minutes (I find a gas stove takes about 20 minutes electric 10.)
Mean while brown hamburger and Cube cheese ( depending on your severing sizes and preference for how cheesy it is) I add 1 cup cubed cheese

Once the noodles  are done add milk, stir in the noodle approx 1/2 cup  may vary depending on how thick or watery you like it. add the cheese slowly other wise you will end up with hidden cheese blobs in your Mac n cheese. Stir and if it seems like your noodle or sticking together to much of the cheese is starting to over cook add more milk take 1/4 cup and add as needed. Then once the cheese is melted at 4 drops Tabasco to bring out the cheese flavor. Must be regular or smoked Tabasco. Then add the hamburger. And boom done there you hamburger helper the food pantry way.
